Interviews with the Characters - Ben Hopkins


1) What's your name and age? My names is Ben Hopkins and i'm 30 years old.

2) Where are you from originally? Where do you live now? I originally grew up in the Okanagan valley, near Armstrong. But I've spent the last three years living abroad. Mainly based out of Thailand.

3) What do you do for a living? For a living a travel the world. I gravitate from one place to another, letting the road take me where it might. I've picked up many skills along the way that ensure I usually have some money in my pocket, and a smile on my face.

4) Where were you when you got the evacuation notice? I was sitting in the Vancouver International Airport. My flight had been grounded for two days, and I was very much considering getting myself to the bus depot.

5) Had you heard of the virus prior to the evacuation notice? No, I had not.

6) In order to get a more detailed picture of who you are, please answer the following questions:- What is your favourite word? Peace
- What is your least favourite word? Captivity
- What turns you on? good conversation with all kinds of people.
- What turns you off? people imposing their thoughts/beliefs/cultures on to others. everyone should be free to make their own choices.
-What sound or noise do you love? Whale calls
- What sound or noise do you hate? roosters crowing in the morning. it's just plain annoying.
-What is your favourite curse word? fuck is pretty versatile
- What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? i'd like to see what it'd be like to be a monk. although that's not really a profession because it's not done for money. if it HAD to be something that earned money, i suppose i'd like to be a Tour Guide. But a tour guide of very high calibre. One that people who wanted to go on long adventures through different landscapes and climates would want to have to ensure their safety.
-If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say at the pearly gates? "You were a good man. And you left a meaningful and positive impression on the people, wildlife, and planet while you were there."

Interviews with the Characters - Jim Lovell


1) What's your name and age? James Henry Lovell, 28.

2) Where are you from originally? Where do you live now? I was born in Brantford, Ontario like Wayne Gretzky. I now live in Coquitlam with my wife and two girls.

3) What do you do for a living? I am the Member of Parliament for New Westminster-Coquitlam. I make sure that the concerns of the citizens of my riding are addressed with the utmost concern, respect and expediency.

4) Where were you when you got the evacuation notice? I was probably one of the first people to know about the evacuation. I was in my office and I received a telephone call from the Health Board informing me of their intention of issuing the evacuation.

5) Had you heard of the virus prior to the evacuation notice? Yes. I was a member of the emergency Parliamentary committee established to oversee the handling of the virus. We did the best we could to keep the virus contained but despite our efforts the virus spread too fast, evacuation was necessary.

- What turns you on? The smell of my wife's perfume.

-What sound or noise do you love? The sound of my girls' laughter.

-What is your favourite curse word? Stephen Harper… just kidding… not to sound to generic, but fuck is a great word.
- What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I've always dreamed of being an astronaut.
- What profession would you not like to do? I would hate to be a bus boy. I despise cleaning.
-If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say at the pearly gates? "You've got my vote."

Interviews with the Characters - Claire Worthington


1) What's your name and age? Claire Worthington. I am 29. (Note: Upon observation of her birth certificate, it was discovered she is in fact 32.)

2) Where are you from originally? Where do you live now? I was born in Hong Kong. I now live in West Vancouver.

3) What do you do for a living? My husband, Reagan Worthington, is the Chairman and CEO of The Worthington Organization, a Canadian based real-estate developer, so I don't need to work. I make sure our home is run properly. If you leave it to the help, they get everything wrong or they start stealing. I also take care of Joseph, my son.

4) Where were you when you got the evacuation notice? I was at home, on my own. Reagan had taken Joseph on a Father/Son trip out of the country, but he didn't specify where. I didn't ask questions as it was rare that Reagan spent a lot of time with Joseph. Mr. and Mrs. Singh, our neighbours, rang at our front gate and they told me that an evacuation notice had been ordered.

5) Had you heard of the virus prior to the evacuation notice? Yes, it was frequently on the news.

Versace. I know, I know, but it really does sound wonderful, doesn't it?

- What turns you on? Absolute and unabashed luxury.
- What turns you off? Incompetence.

-What sound or noise do you hate? My husband's snoring
- What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Luxury resort reviewer.
- What profession would you not like to do? Maid.

Interviews with the Characters - Mary Sullivan



1) What's your name and age? Hi. I'm Mary Sullivan and I'm 23 and a half, my birthday's in April.

2) Where are you from originally? Where do you live now? I've lived in the same house my whole life. It's at 10th and Sasamat in Vancouver. It's just me and my Grandpa there now.

3) What do you do for a living? I work at The Little Mountain Residential Care and Housing Society. I'm a Care Aide. I help residents with daily activities like eating, showering, dressing and rehabilitation.We also have a lot of fun, we play games, make crafts and I read a lot. A lot!

4) Where were you when you got the evacuation notice? I was driving home from work and it was all over the radio. I rushed home to get my Grandpa.

5) Had you heard of the virus prior to the evacuation notice? I saw a few little news stories about some sickness going around but it didn't seem serious. Remember the Swine scare?

- What is your favourite word? Haha. My favourite word is jiggle. It's so fun to say. Jiggle.
- What is your least favourite word? Hurse.
- What turns you on? Is my Grandpa going to read this? I'm not a good person to ask but I like true gentlemen. So my answer is politeness.
- What turns you off? Nose hair!
-What sound or noise do you love? I like the sound of my neighbour's dog barking. It means they're home and I can go walk him if I want. I've always wanted a dog.
- What sound or noise do you hate? My alarm clock. It's the worst noise in the world.
-What is your favourite curse word? Omigosh. Well my Grandpa's going to kill me but it's mother fucker. I say it my car a lot.
- What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? My dream is to be a Geriatric Nurse.
- What profession would you not like to do? I would not like to be an accountant or an outhouse cleaner.
-If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say at the pearly gates? That'll do Mary, that'll do.

1) What's your name and age? My name is Richard Chavez I'm 25 years old.

2) Where are you from originally? Where do you live now? I live in Vancouver with my parents still.

3) What do you do for a living? I am currently working on starting a gardening business but I now live with cheques I get from the gouvernement.

4) Where were you when you got the evacuation notice? I was on my way to my sister's house. The streets were pretty bad at this point already. Lots of people, lots of yelling and chaos.

5) Had you heard of the virus prior to the evacuation notice? Yeah, I had seen stuff on the news and read about it on the newspapaer but nothing seemed this serious

Interviews with the Characters - Liz Young


1) What's your name and age? Liz Young, age 25

2) Where are you from originally? Where do you live now? All that matters is living right here, right now. And honestly where I've lived is none of your business.

3) What do you do for a living? Right now, I'm unemployed...but I spend a lot of time training, even during the season.

4) Where were you when you got the evacuation notice? I was shopping for food at the pet store 'round the corner from my place 'cause I didn't wanna run low "in case" anything really did happen. Some uniformed guy just grabbed me by the shoulders and forced me into this crowd of people. I had no idea what was goin' on.

5) Had you heard of the virus prior to the evacuation notice? I heard a bit about it on the tv, but I try not to pay attention to the news 'cause it's usually crap. I wasn't worried about a virus. I've never got the chicken flu or seen anthrax before, it's not like it's gonna be a big deal.

6) In order to get a more detailed picture of who you are, please answer the following questions:
-What is your favourite word?

-What is your least favourite word? ointment. i usta have to put ointment on one of my brothers eczema everyday. fuckin' discusting.
-What turns you on? ...is this question for real?
-What turns you off? no ones ever asked me that before, I'll have to think about it.
-What sound or noise do you love? when everything is quiet, and all I hear is rain.
-What sound or noise do you hate? car crashes
-What is your favourite curse word? all swear words deserve equal opportunities.
-What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I think I could be a really good adjudicator at dog shows...maybe one day. More realistically though, I think working at the spca would be a cool job. Animals understand me, it's kinda weird.
-What profession would you not like to do? customer service.
-If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say at the pearly gates? I would want him to explain why he puts us through this.
